How to get your raw files from BGI (华大基因)
BGI users can obtain raw data files (VCF or gVCF format) through three channels: the BGI App, customer service, or the hospital where testing was done. You have the right to access your own genomic data.
What matters most
- Path 1 (App): Open the BGI Gene App, go to Settings, tap Data Export, and request VCF/gVCF.
- Path 2 (Customer Service): Call the BGI hotline, request a raw data export in VCF or gVCF format, and verify your identity if needed.
- Path 3 (Hospital): If tested through a hospital, contact your doctor or genetic counselor and request the VCF/gVCF file — not just the PDF report. You have the right to access your own genomic data.
- After getting the file: Open Fern Gene, tap Import, select the VCF/gVCF file. Analysis takes 5-15 minutes depending on file size.
